How To Drink Your Wine Like A Pro

There is more to drinking wine than just pouring a glass and taking a sip. Like all experiences, this one too adds richness to life. Whether you’re trading your daily mental health coffee with a glass of Chardonnay or celebrating the small (or big) wins with a Prosecco, here’s how to make the experience better for you and as an added bonus - not look like a noob doing it!

1. Pick The Right Glass

Just like soup is best enjoyed in a bowl and noodles are best enjoyed with a fork (or chopsticks!), there is a right choice when it comes to pouring wine. Help your wine be the best version of itself with the right amount of Oxygen contact. Find out which glassware to use for different wine varieties here.

2. Hold It Right (not just tight)

A major make-or-break factor in the wine-drinking experience is the temperature at which it is best enjoyed (Read more about this here). This applies to all the wines and all the glasses. So do yourself and your wine a favor and always hold the glass by the stem. This will prevent you from warming up the glass with the heat of your palms and also keep your fingerprints off of the bowl of the glass (for all my neat freaks out there!).

3. Swirl

One of the best things about wine is the unique flavor profile that every bottle carries. Once you’re holding the glass by the stem, give it a swirl, and let it breathe. When the wine comes in contact with oxygen, it helps to release the aromas of the wine.

4. Sniff

How can fermented grape juice smell like coffee, forests, and peaches all at once? Use your nose to appreciate the aromas of the wine and to identify the unique notes of each wine. A fun little game!

5. Sip

Finally, the good stuff! Take a small sip of the wine and let it swish around your mouth. This will help you to taste the different flavors of the wine.

6. Savour

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to enjoying wine. Ultimately, it's all about what pleases you. Embrace your instincts, trust your palate, and follow your heart. Your wine journey will evolve over time, just like your story, and it's the present moment that matters most. So, let each sip be a celebration of the now.

Remember, the art of drinking wine is not about being professional; it's about being authentic to yourself. Allow your story to unfold sip by sip, and let the experience evolve naturally. Cheers to the journey ahead, where every glass of wine holds the potential for discovery and delight.
