Chenin Blanc is a versatile wine grape thought to have originated in the Loire Valley in France. It is mentioned in historical documents as early as the 9th century. Chenin Blanc was first brought to South Africa by the Dutch in the 17th century. It quickly became the most popular white wine grape in the country.
